If you know me, you know that I am a HUGE advocate of balance. I believe that when everything in your life is in balance, you will achieve a happy life. When you balance healthy eating with just enough unhealthy food to keep you sane, or when you meditate everyday to help you cope with the stresses of life, that is balance.
So why am I such a big fan of balance?
Have you ever had those days where you become so overwhelmed and so frustrated that you want to lay down and cry or punch a wall? Have you ever bitten into your third fast food meal of the week and felt so upset with yourself because your one cheat meal a week just turned into three? Do you ever get so excited for Friday to come that you wake up every day of the week dreading that today isn’t Friday? All of these reasons are why you need balance in your life. You need positivity to balance out negativity, you need the calm to balance out the storm, and you need the healthy foods and one cheat meal a week to balance out your craving for both a healthy life and a cheeseburger. It is possible to live a balanced life, but it’s not easy. I have been working at living a balanced life for years, but to me it is not “work”, it’s finding myself and finding what makes me happy.
I love wine, every single one of my Facebook friends and family members knows it. I also love experimenting with new healthy recipes to test out on my friends and family. I love vegging out to an episode of Gilmore Girls, but I also love long walks on the beach (if you can get past that total cliche). I love to dance and sing. I love to meditate. I love chocolate. I love walking my dog. I love trying new restaurants. I love to workout, and bake, and read, and listen to music, and drink wine (did I say that already?). Bottom line is, there are a lot of things I love and refuse to give up.
Living a balanced life means that you don’t have to give up the things you love.
However, it also means that you need to be proactive on your quest to balance. You have to work to achieve it, it doesn’t just happen over night. Get into meditation. Limit yourself to one “treat meal” a week. Look at yourself in the mirror and say “hot damn you are a freaking amazing human being” every single morning. Walk your dog. Cuddle with your S/O. When you feel stressed, take 3 long and deep breaths and tell yourself that you are amazing and will get through this.
Once you welcome balance into your life, your outlook on life shifts drastically and you start living a life that you are proud of and that you are excited to wake up and live every day. You know what they say… it’s All in the Balance baby!
