Way “Whey” Good Fruit Smoothie
Ingredients ( Makes a 12 oz Smoothie )
1 Ripe Peach ( Organic if possible- Peaches are on the Dirty Dozen list )
1 Pineapple Spear ( I get the ones already cut from Trader Joes ) #lazy
1 Red Plum or A Handful of Frozen Tart Cherries ( Costco ) I have made it with both ingredients and love them both equally.
1 Scoop of Grass Fed Unflavored Whey Protein Powder Isolate– I love this stuff.
1/2 Cup of Almond or Coconut Milk- Add more to get to your desired consistency.
*You can sub any of the fruit- The pineapple is key in my opinion 🙂
These are tricky so go really slow and give yourself enough time.
Throw all of the stuff in your high-speed blender and push run. Tricky right? I have been making smoothies for years and have tried every blender and have broken many of them. I have had a Vita-Mix and loved it but for smoothies, I am a huge fan of the Blendtec. This machine seems to really do a fabulous job with smoothies. We have had our current model 8 years now and it is used at least once a day between Mike and me
I always have a fresh basil plant from Trader Joe’s on my kitchen counter so today I added a leaf for the heck of it. It was a delish addition.
I do not eat a lot of meat so there are times I need to get some extra protein in my tummy. This is the best whey we have ever used. Smoothies are such a great way to satisfy your hunger as well as your sweet tooth. HOWEVER, too much fruit can have its own set of problems.
Yes, fruit has sugar so just keep that in mind. I would NEVER recommend someone eliminate this wholesome food group from their diet because of the sugar but I will always caution you to use portion control. In addition, some people run into digestion issues when they consume too much fruit. Know your tolerance. Summer fruit is the BEST in my eyes.
