I love me a good cup of Joe in the early AM but towards the end of the day I like to try and stay away from the caffeine if at all possible. Awhile back r at one of the wellness conferences I attended I was turned on to this thing called “herbal coffee” that I just can’t say enough about. This product truly is amazing and it has some added health benefits to make it even better.

The product I am talking about is from a company called Teeccino Their main focus of business is offering their customers coffee alternatives. Now don’t get me wrong, like I said I like drinking a cup or two of coffee everyday. I just was on the hunt to find something that could satisfy the cravings I had in the afternoon without the caffeine side effects.

There are two products that I love from them. The Dandelion Caramel Nut and The Dandelion Dark Roast.   Both of these products have zero caffeine and actually look just like a cup of coffee once brewed. One very important thing to note is that not all of the herbal coffees with Teeccino are gluten free.  The two that I am reviewing are considered gluten free. Both of these products have a dandelion base. Did you know that the dandelion root carries with it  tremendous health benefits? Score in my book, zero caffeine, good for you and it taste good!  I was hooked.

The Caramel Nut Flavor comes in a box with 10 individual bags. You can also buy it in one pound bags and brew it in your french press. I use the bags. The bags look just like tea bags. You just brew your hot water and put your herbal coffee bag in a cup, pour the hot water and watch the magic happen. The taste is not going to be as rich as a cup of dark roasted coffee. At first it baffled my senses as it looks just like coffee. The taste to me was a little nutty, it did not have a strong caramel taste, it was more like woody to me. After about the third time of brewing these guys I caught on that it was not going to taste exactly like coffee and it really became a delightful thing for me to drink. Now when I brew a cup it taste very full bodied and very rich in flavor, it is funny how your senses can play tricks on you.  One nice thing about this product is it does not leave a icky residue taste like some alternative coffees do. Another thing I like about this stuff is it is the real deal, just a different real deal. This is what these little bags are made up of:  Organic carob, organic chicory, organic dandelion, dates, almonds, natural caramel nut flavor, organic figs. Contains: Almonds.  Interesting right? You got to try it.

The Dark Roast flavor is very similar to me but is a little bolder in my opinion. This flavor as well is brewed the same way. It is so easy and quick. If you like french roast this might be a good choice. Ingredients: Roasted organic carob, organic chicory, organic dandelion root, organic ramón seeds, natural dark roast flavor.

What I super really love about these products is they are all natural, organic, have a buss load of antioxidants and nutrients, are low acid, gluten free and they provide a great alternative to someone wanting to kick the caffeine habit or just cut back. You can usually find them at the higher end health food stores, and on Amazon.

If you try either of these products out I would really love to hear what you think about them. If you are looking for other coffee alternative ideas check out this other article I wrote and see what you think.
