Here it is, my Beachbody Ultimate Reset Review – Week 2. Week 2 was easier for me than Week 1. I think any time you go through a program like this just getting out of the gates is the hardest part. I think Mike and I have done a really good job mentally while on the Beachbody Ultimate Reset this time. I know I say this a lot but if you are not mentally ready to change, you are fighting an uphill battle. I am so lucky that I have a spouse that is aligned with my goals. I know this would not be easy if we did not have each other’s support.
The food was really good this week. Some of my favorites were: Sweet Potato and Roasted Pepper Soup and the Mediterranean Roasted Beets and Coconut Collard Greens.
There was one day that I was hungry in the AM but I pounded some more water and came out of it quickly. The breakfasts are a lot of fruit. This is when the prep time comes into play. Every two days I would cut up some mango, pineapple, and kiwi and throw it in a big bowl. I would then wash some organic berries (OMG they are expensive at this time of year!!) and add them in before I would plate it up each AM . Fresh fruit can taste so amazing when you choose the fruit that is in season. We added Kumquats to our AM plate each time. We received a bag of these orange beauties in our local CSA box. I had never heard of them before and I was all flustered in figuring out how to eat them. For those of you that know what a Kumquat is you know that you just throw them in your mouth and enjoy. Weird but very tasteful.
Lunch time included a lot of salads which is really nothing that different for me. I normally add some goat cheese to my salads and I have to admit I kind of missed that this week. I love that we get to add pumpkin seeds to each salad.
A lot of the dinners are served for lunch the next day so it makes prepping easy as you just make a double batch. The nice thing about the way this program is designed is you can swap out meals as long as they are in the same week(phase) So if on day 15 you do not like the lunch you can have day 14’s lunch or day 16’s lunch and so forth for breakfast and dinner. You are allowed an optional snack in the afternoon. Neither Mike or I had any snacks this week, we really were surprising satisfied. The snacks are things like carrots/avocado, apple/blueberries, Miso soup and so forth. I was not a fan of the miso soup but Mike liked it.
The supplements this phase were: Mineralize, Optimize, Detox and Soothe. The detox and I were not friends. Mike and the other challengers enjoyed it. It is a powder that you mix with water. It has things like chia seeds, milk thistle, cats claw and turmeric in it. They are great ingredients but I did not like the texture. I think I needed to add more water but I was into just drinking it like a shot 🙂
The challengers in our group are all still doing fabulous. No one is complaining about the no alcohol, caffeine or lack of extra nibbling 🙂 I think everyone had the mindset of “Let’s Do This!” It sure helps to do this program with other people who are committed and there to help if we experience a weak moment. I am getting anxious to start working out again I have to admit. I am very excited to start our new program Masters Hammer and Chisel. Mike is going to stick with the 21 Day Fix for now so it will fun to see how we both do on different programs.
