I just wanted to throw out a very quick review on a new vegetarian burger I tried today. The veggie burger is from a company called Nut Burgers. I have done a previous review post on their Nut Tacos.. I think I am going to say that I prefer the tacos over the veggie burger but not by a lot.
First off lets talk taste. The coconut taste was very weak in my opinion. I am not sure if this was a good thing for me or not. I did not really notice any other flavors popping from the burger. It was a pleasant taste but nothing that jumped out. The size of the burger was great. I did not feel I was getting jipped any food. The burger weighs 3.5 oz and has a total of 290 calories. In regards to nutrition I think it is a good balance of calories and protein. There is 9 grams of protein, 3 grams of sugar, no cholesterol and in my opinion too much sodium-360 mg. Of course anytime you buy ANYTHING processed you are going to get higher sodium. I do not eat a lot of frozen items for this very reason, plus I love to cook 🙂
The ingredients are as follows:
ORGANIC BROWN RICE, ORGANIC SUNFLOWER SEEDS, CASHEWS, ORGANIC COCONUT MILK (COCONUT,* PURIFIED WATER), FRESH RED PEPPER, COCONUT NECTAR, LEMONGRASS, LIME JUICE, GARLIC, GINGER, COCONUT OIL, SEA SALT, BLACK PEPPER. FRESH CILANTRO, FRESH BASIL. Most of these ingredients are organic as well. You can’t beat those ingredients right? It is weird that I did not taste more flavor with all of those amazing ingredients. It could have just been me so please let me know if you try it.
Cost wise they were pretty affordable. I purchased mine on sale at Sprouts Farmers Market for $3.49 but they are regularly $4.00 for a pack of 4 burgers. Today I topped my salad off with a burger patty and it filled me up. You can get pretty creative with these little guys. Here are some recipe suggestions.
