I love to cook and bake but I need to be honest I am not organized at all. For as much time as I spend in my pantry you would think it would be a lot more organized than it is. My daughter Kellie is the queen of organization. I use to pay her to clean and arrange all my cupboards and my pantry. She has been away at college for 3 years now and my kitchen has been screaming SOS at me.
Today I said enough is enough. I went to staples and armed myself with some tools and set out to organize my pantry. These tips can help you organize your pantry too! I cranked the music, brewed a deep rich cup of coffee, revved up my diffuser with some energizing sweet orange essential oil and headed in.
My pantry is pretty much metal can free. I use mostly flours, lentils and spices and they usually come in a cheap plastic bag. I don’t know about you but I am known for opening a bag of beans and then grabbing for it in a hurry and spilling them all over the floor. I am not joking I have done this about 5 times since we moved to Carlsbad. When organizing my pantry, I decided to combine my love of mason jars and containers with some really cute chalkboard labels to start this project off. Check out these totally cute labels I used. You can use these to organize your pantry or anything else you want organized. They’re so cool! I purchased mine at Staples but Amazon has them way cheaper. You can easily erase these since they act like a chalkboard. This is so important for me because I am always trying out new items in my kitchen. These cool chalkboards will help you organize your pantry and hopefully keep you pantry organized too.
It took me about one hour to transfer all of my items to these cute containers and label them. Aren’t they adorable? Now the trick will be making sure I keep it up. Being organized in the kitchen is kind of like the whole making the bed thing. If you make your bed each AM your whole house seems cleaner. I am committing to keeping my kitchen organized.
You want to make sure you get good containers that are air tight so you can preserve the shelf life of your items. Some of my favorite containers are these from Amazon but I also LOVE to reuse mason jars or other glass containers.
Now aren’t you inspired to go check out your cupboards? Maybe it’s time to organize your pantry too! 🙂
