Rosemary/Lavender Bath Salt Soak

2 oz Himalayan pink salt or Epsom salt- Costco is the best place to buy both of these salts.

2 tablespoon of jojoba oil- Trader Joes has a nice affordable one.

8-10 drops of lavender essential oil– Quality DOES matter.

1 fresh sprig of rosemary, stripped. This is my favorite herb stripper.

1 tablespoon baby unscented castile soap ( optional )  I use this stuff for so many things.

One of my favorite things to do at night is draw a warm bath and add in some of my special homemade Epsom salts. The recipes are endless but it is very important you follow the recipe exactly. Essential oils and water do not mix well. Sadly there are a lot of DIY recipes out there and many of them can land you in the emergency room.

Directions
Place all the ingredients into a small mason jar or jar of your choice.  I like to minimize mess so mixing this in the jar you are going to use works great.  These are the mason jars I use. I love them for mixing bath salts and sugar scrubs. They are small enough where they look cute if you give them as a gift and perfect for one-time use applications. I highly suggest you add in the castile soap. You can add in any scent you want I just like the unscented one. When I was doing my clinical aromatherapist training we did tons of research on how to ensure the essential oils used in water would remain safe. The soap helps it all mix together safely. I always give my water a swirl with my hands before I sink in.

Another tip is after you pour the salts in your bath gently drop the jar in the water so you get every ounce of this goodness. This also makes clean up a breeze 🙂

I am all about safety when it comes to making homemade bath products. Because they are truly made without any preservatives you need to use them within a week. I like to make single batches so I can try a different combination each time but you can make a larger batch by tripling the recipe. Just remember, use it within one week.

Some people do not like the rosemary sprigs in the bath because they freak them out floating around in the water.lol. You can totally leave them out. I have added fresh lemon peel with this recipe before and it was fab.

If you are looking for a gift for that health-conscious person this is it. People love homemade gifts. Just remember to add a tag about using them within the week.

If you want a sugar scrub recipe, check this one out.
