Every year I hear about friends and family feeling like crap because they over indulged on all the sugary treats out there. Trust me I do have a few favorites as well. I will admit I have been known to enjoy a skittle or two but in general I try to keep the treats around this holiday as healthy as I can. If it is not in the house you won’t have the opportunity to cave. So get your grocery list out and lets look into some healthy and fun treats we can make this season.
This is one of my favorites.
Now who remembers making these as a kid? I made them last year so don’t judge!
Going to a party? It does not matter what age the guests are everyone will love these platters.
This is one of my favorite ones. I usually stuff mine with my favorite risotto . Just make sure whatever you stuff it with is not to liquify as it will run through the eyes and nose and not look so pretty. (Yes I did that one year)
I love to make dark chocolate bark. I try not to add too many sugar toppings but sometimes just a little really makes the recipe BLING ya know?! Candy corn in the dark chocolate bark is one of those times. You can use anything you want so get creative. I often make it with just roasted almonds or pumpkin seeds. You could do this and put it in a little orange paper cup to make it festive if you wanted.
Ok so there you have it, lots of great treats you can make this holiday season. Throw out those orange-frosted sugar-filled ding dongs that are just filled with chemicals and artificial icky stuff 🙂 Start a new trend this year in your neighborhood and create your own treats. Trust me you will be thanked.
