Oh friends let me tell you this was a HUGE issue for me for 10+ years. I truly have struggled with sleep for so long I did not know what it was like to get a full night sleep. I started to just think that tossing and turning and waking up at 3am was just the way I was built. BAMMMM then I started learning more about sleep and all the ill health effects that can happen to your body when you do not get enough sleep. I work very hard at filling my body with healthy foods that it is just silly that I was willing to sit back and just accept this frustrating situation. Full research mode started at the Malone house in addition to learning so many things during my aromatherapy certification course. I am so excited and thrilled that I now sleep through the night. Of course like anything there are nights I struggle a little more than others but in general I would give my sleep a B+ rating. It is an upgrade from the D I would have given myself earlier this year. Here is what I do on a nightly basis. I am not a Dr. so make sure you check with your Dr. before taking any of these supplements.
About 30-45 minutes before bed time I drink this tea. This is the one I like most. If you have a thyroid issue try and avoid Ashwaganda at night. It seems to provide more energy for us folks than we want at night time.
I also take 500 mg of L-Theanine. L-Theanine is used to promote calmness. It seems to just take the edge off so this active mind can take a rest. I have sent a bottle of this to both of my daughters in college and they love it. I get mine from a local pharmacy here in town.
Lastly I always run my diffuser at night. It is one of my favorite things to do and I can not fall asleep without it. I have owned a lot of different kinds of diffusers and this one by far has been the best to date. I trade off what I diffuse depending on my mood. My favorites are: Sweet Slumber , Lavender and Deep Peace.
All of these things have made a tremendous impact on my sleep. I also do meditate 75% of the nights. There are so many apps out there with meditation programs you just have to play with it and see which one fits you best. I will do another post soon on some of my favorites.
Please do not accept sleepless nights. Do not say its age. You can change it. There is nothing better than waking up from a good 6-8 hour sleep, Please message me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you need any help or more suggestions.
