According to researchers in New Zealand eating broccoli just might be able to make you smile more 🙂 A new study led by researchers in New Zealand and published in the British Journal of Healthy Psychology found that eating fruits and vegetables is associated with greater flourishing in daily life. Do you agree? I know for me it all makes sense scientifically but from an emotional standpoint I think it makes even more sense. When I started eating more fruits and vegetables what that meant was I was eating less processed crud. When I would eat processed crud I would have a sugar crash and feel down in the dumps quickly. I love that I can eat a big heap of vegetables and still feel like I can continue on with my day.
When you consume fruits and vegetables magical things happen to your body. I really truly believe food is the new medicine. I have been telling Mike for years I think the answers to some of our huge health crisis topics can be solved with the things we grow on mother earth. I know it is not a big money maker for anyone to study this and don’t even get me started on how much that frustrates me. BUT….. why not start your own study on your own body? Nutrients found in fruits and vegetables consist of vitamins such as vitamins A, C, and E, which work to protect the body by supporting our immune system, these things help our body ward off the nasty stuff that is floating around out there. In addition, riboflavin, folic acid, and vitamin K keep your heart and blood healthy, and potassium keeps muscles working well.
There are thousands of reasons why you should eat more fruits and vegetables and I know you have heard most of them before. For me lets just keep it simple and ask this one question. WHY NOT? If there was a chance that all the research was right WHY NOT take control over your health and fuel your body with nutrients proven to fight disease, make you happy and help you maintain a healthy weight? Right? Why Not????????
