My clients know that this is a big question for me. Are you the driver? Do you know what that means? What it means is are you in control of your life? I can think back on many years that I was not the driver. This time was also a time in my life when everything was wonky. I had so much stress, never seemed to ever catch up on work, I was not sleeping and honestly I was a little depressed I think. Looking back now I know it is because I let other people, circumstances and events CONTROL my day and did not find anytime to do the things that made me happy.

When you stop and think about it, you really are the driver. You can say NO to that one event you don’t really have time or interest to attend. You can say NO to that big piece of chocolate cake you know is going to set you back from your goal and make you bloaty. You can say NO to your snooze button. There is nothing physical stopping us from starting to take control. Too often we want to complain about being too busy so we can’t do the things we want to or the things we know will enrich the balance in our life. Do we really have the right to blame someone or something else when truly we are the drivers.
