3 Things To Try When Your Workout Mojo Has Popped

by | Jul 24, 2018 | Fitness Tips, Training Tuesday |

Let me just say this first thing and get it out in the open. I DO NOT like working out. I know I am a Beachbody Coach and will probably be put in Beachbody Jail for that statement but you know me, I got to keep it realz.

Even when I was a young whippersnapper, I did not like the gym. I do not like to sweat, I always seem to hurt myself, the workouts are always long and let’s be honest, I would rather sip coffee and eat broccoli all day.

Now that I am in my 50’s I know I have to get over it and get in the gym. The research is all over the place and I can not deny it anymore or think just because I am chewing on lettuce every day for lunch that this makes me healthy.

BUT I still hate it.  Let me share with you 3 ways I do when I need some more workout mojo.

  1. Try Something Different. This one is so crucial for me. It really is my #1 way to get out of my funk and find my mojo again. Because I am a Beachbody Coach I have access to hundreds of workouts. I love working out in my own gym. I am a certifiable germaphobe and by working out in my own gym I can try and control the germs. ( OMG Mikes sweats like nothing you have ever seen though, makes me crazy. I have to go in and clean EVERY single time he works out)

Nowadays the workout options are endless. If you like Yoga you can try Yoga International. If you like dancing, check out Body Groove. If you are into martial arts check out this great routine for free on YouTube. If you are into weight lifting, Cardio and Yoga check out Beachbody On Demand. Lastly, if you like swimming, make sure you check out my latest post here. The ideas are bountiful. You just need to keep looking for something that connects with you. I am currently doing 80 Day Obsession on Beachbody On Demand. I am on day 40 and loving it. If I stop liking it on day 45 I will look for something else. Life is too short to do shit you don’t like. I think it is crucial to keep active and I might not love it but I will do it every day. My bones are counting on me.

2. Crank The Music–  Music makes everything better right? There are days I go into the gym a real bear but as soon as the music hits my ears I turn my attitude around. I seem to get lost in the music and not the exercise. Now, this is sometimes not a great thing as my form will stink but in general, music always makes my workouts more enjoyable.

I change up my playlists all the time. I normally have 3 different lists made to pull from. Here are some great workout playlists/stations you can try.

1- Pandora Workout Stations

2- Spotify Workout Page

3-Workout Music on YouTube

3. Workout With A Buddy – I have to admit I normally do not like to work out with anyone. I like to sweat, grunt, cry and swear all by myself. However, there have been times that I have lost all my momentum in the gym and I needed a buddy to kick my ass. The buddy is normally Mike but sometimes it is a girlfriend and we just go for a short run or something. I really believe working out is just like anything else in life that is hard. You have to start with one baby step and feel the benefits to keep at it. If I am grumbly about the gym for a long period of time I know I am about ready to lose my mojo so I get out of my gym, call a buddy and regroup.

Taking a walk on the beach with a buddy is sometimes all it takes for me to get back in my groove. For you, it might be picking a routine that your BFF likes and scheduling a workout coffee date 3 times a week. Companionship is a great motivator when it comes to working out. It can also double as a great motivator as well. Having that buddy keep you accountable can be invaluable.

If you losing your mojo- try one of these and see if it helps.  If you want some workout and clean eating support you can join my private Facebook Group too. We would love to have you.
