It is Friday Fun time and it is freaking hot outside. Here are some ways you can cool down without breaking the bank.

1. Run through the Sprinklers

If you live in an area where there is a drought do not overdo this one lol. No joke I love to run through the sprinklers.  It does not take much to cool your body temperature down. Do this in the front yard so all your neighbors can come to join you.  I am not joking- try this!!!!

2. Go Bowling

My Hubby

Bowling is making a come back. It is a little costly but if you call ahead you can get some good deals. Mike and I purchased a Summer pass at our local alley and it paid for itself in 3 trips. Yes, this is my husband.  Isn’t he cute?

3. Make Popsicles

There are thousands of recipes on Pinterest for homemade popsicles. Look in your refrigerator and see what you have available. Popsicles are not just for the young but also the young at heart 🙂  They also are fantastic and bringing down your body temperature. These are the molds I use.

These Lavender Lemonade Popsicles are my favorite right now.

4. Turn on the AC and binge something on Hulu or Netflix

Not gonna lie, I do this even when it is not hot outside. I can not binge more than 2 hours ( my butt gets all cranky sitting that long ) but I can do some serious damage during that time. My favorite shows are: 1- Handmaids Tale 2- The Bold Type 3- Boardwalk Empire 4. The Colony 5. Nashville 6. Stranger Things 7. Gracie and Frankie 8. Will and Grace 9. So you think you can dance 10. The Path As you can see I am all over the place with what type of shows I like. Go ahead, it is hot outside. Tell your family Judy told you to do it 🙂

5. Go Swimming

Swimming is not only an excellent way to get cool fast but it is also a  great exercise.

If you are not into the whole exercise thing just get a cheap raft at Wal Mart and float on the crisp cool water.  Put that SPF on! There is very likely to be a community pool in your area that offers free swimming.

6. Go to a Museum

Mike and I use to visit museums when we were dating all the time. We recently started going again and love it. If the hot day you are experiencing is on a Tuesday and you happen to live in San Diego County then you can check out the FREE stuff Balboa Park has available.

If you do not live in San Diego County google your area and see if they have something similar. Why not stay cool and learn something at the same time?

7. Go to the Movies

Movies are expensive but so is putting on your air conditioning. The movies are one of my favorite ways to beat the heat. Hop on to google and see what is playing in your area. Pop your own popcorn, smuggle in your chocolate covered nuts and kick your feet up and chill out- LITERALLY 🙂

8. Head on over to your Local Bookstore

Barnes and Noble are expecting you I promise. I have been at our local store when it was super hot out and it was packed. The employees know you are coming lol. They need your support in there anyways. There is a lot of talk in the news about closing down local bookstores because everyone is buying online nowadays.

Think of it as you doing them a favor and sucking up their air conditioning at the same time. While you are there check out my favorite book right now “Diggin In”

9. Go get some Frozen Yogurt or Ice-Cream

OK, first off OMG how awesome does that cone look? Man, I miss cones. I have tried the gluten free ones and they just do not do it for me. OK back to the point, go get something cold and tasty.  It is freaing hot out- forget the whole calorie carb thing for one day. There is currently a frozen yogurt store or ice-cream stand on almost every corner nowadays. My stomach cannot tolerate ice cream very well but there are so many other options out there now. Have you all heard of Sub Zero? They were featured on Shark Tank years ago. They have lots of non-dairy choices.

10- Head to your Local Mall

I have to admit, I have not been to our local mall since my kids lived at home. I am not a mall person. Who needs a mall when you have Amazon right? However, the mall is a great place to beat the sweat. You can window shop or even get in your daily steps and not spend one penny. Go try a different mall that you have never been to before. Make it an adventure.  You might find a good bargain

and it will take your mind off the heat.  Tell the hubs it was my fault. I am so ok with taking the heat for the purchase. No pun intended.

The heat is here to stay for awhile folks. I know a lot of people think global warming is hogwash but I KNOW something is happening with our weather patterns. Get out and beat this heat. January will be here soon. ( Well not really but a good visualization can’t hurt )
